Before I started welding on my beetle, I tried to read as much as I can about the subject. No books though, because I haven't got the patience for those. But several forums and on line videos helped me on my way. I found this forum http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/ especially helpful. Maybe it will serve you as well.

Now you cannot learn welding from reading how to do it. You must start and just go for it. Test drive you welding tools on some spare metals and find out how much talent you have. Good luck!
